Hi! We're Chris (the husband) and Tex (the wife). We're happily married musicians who live in San Francisco, and we've been together for over 9 years, married for 3. We can't wait to be stay-at-home parents! With close ties to adoption, we believe that open adoption is the best way for us to grow our family and stay connected with our child's birth mother. If you decide that open adoption is the best plan for you, please "Read More" about us to find out if we might be the right parents for your baby. We would love to hear from you. ~Chris and Tex

    MEET CHRIS & TEX

    We're not your typical couple

We’re both musicians who enjoy spending time at home playing music and listening to records. We value sitting down for dinner each night without the distraction of television, a tradition we plan to continue once we become parents.

    Our work

Tex works primarily from home as an environmental, human & animals rights writer for Care2.com, and as the marketing manager for an enviornmental tech startup called EarthX. Chris works in the music industry—he’s trained in music production, is a performing musician, and also works at a concert hall in San Francisco.

Together, we bring in additional income through Airbnb, hosting people in a guest space located apart from our own living quarters.

    We'll be stay-at-home parents

Spending time to bond and care for our child is extremely important to us both, so we’re glad that working from home will enable us to be stay-at-home parents.

    How We Met

We met at 12 Galaxies, a live music venue in San Francisco. Chris was performing and Tex was in the audience. After the show, we started talking outside and hit it off right away. Tex confided to her friend that night, “I think he’s the one”, and we’ve been together ever since, happily married for over 2 years.

    Our Home Sweet Home

Our home is a hub where friends, family and close-knit neighbors including lots of kids get together often to laugh, eat and play.

Chris and his dad renovated it over time—their most recent project is a remodeled bedroom for our new baby to enjoy all to him or her self.

Tex loves to garden so our fenced in back yard is filled with lots of plants. A typical evening at our home: Tex will be in the kitchen cooking, which she enjoys doing, while Chris entertains her on the guitar.

She can’t wait to pass on her cooking skills to their child, and Chris looks forward to teaching him or her to play the guitar.

What We Look Forward to Doing as a Family

We prefer reading books and listening to records to watching TV. One of the things we look forward to is bedtime story time with our new child.  In summertime, we’re both excited to go camping and river swimming.

Tex loves holidays and really gets into the spirit, so she’s especially excited about celebrating the holidays with our child-- setting out gifts from Santa on Christmas Eve, exploring the local pumpkin patch in fall, and going out trick-or-treating with friends and their kids. The more fun traditions the better!

    GET TO KNOW CHRIS

WHAT CHRIS IS LIKE in Tex’s Words

Chris can best be described in this story: Earlier this year there was a house fire across the street and the residents were immediately displaced, not knowing where they were going to sleep for the night. Chris immediately offered up our home to one of the families with two young girls, and they stayed in our guest space for many days until it was safe for them to return home. Chris is caring by nature and when someone is in need, especially a child, he’s often the first to offer help.

WHAT CHRIS WILL BE LIKE AS A DAD as told by Tex

Children are naturally drawn to Chris. He puts them at ease and makes them feel safe and supported. He has a knack for teaching kids things, and I can already picture him sitting on the couch teaching our child how to play the guitar, while I’m cooking dinner in the kitchen. Chris’ patience and tolerance will enable him to raise a happy child who is unconditionally loved.

    GET TO KNOW TEX

WHAT TEX IS LIKE in Chris' Words

Tex can best be described in how she chooses to spend her time.

·She is smart and compassionate --She has dedicated her career to helping others who are less fortunate.

·She’s an animal lover –Since I’ve know Tex, she has rescued more animals than I can count, a quality I find adorable and endearing.

·She loves kids and believes in giving back –She volunteers with City of Dreams, a group that organizes activities for inner city youth.

·She brings people together –Tex is the president of our block club, which helps create a strong sense of community within our diverse neighborhood.

WHAT TEX WILL BE LIKE AS A MOM as told by Chris

Tex is always making sure those she cares about are taken care of. She is a silly person, so once she’s a mom, I’m sure there is going to be a lot of giggling going on. She’s also very loving and nurturing, and has a protective nature, so I know she’ll always put our child’s needs first.

Tex really loves holidays and traditions, which will be lots of fun for our child. I can’t wait to see Tex and our new child in action – camping, gardening, biking, cooking, and many other fun activities together.

    OUR HOME

    Our Home Sweet Home

Our home is a hub where friends, family and close-knit neighbors including lots of kids get together often to laugh, eat and play.

Chris and his dad renovated it over time—the most recent project is a remodeled bedroom for our new baby to enjoy all to him or her self.

Tex loves to garden so our sunny, fenced in back yard is filled with lots of plants. She also enjoys cooking in our spacious, light-filled kitchen.

We live in a tight-knit community, so neighbors pop by often, and we often hear kids playing outside, which we really enjoy,

A typical evening at home: Tex will be in the kitchen cooking, while Chris entertains her on the guitar or plays records in the background.

What We Look Forward to Doing as a Family

Teaching...Tex can’t wait to pass on her cooking skills to her child, and Chris looks forward to teaching him or her to play the guitar.

Reading...We prefer reading books and listening to records to watching TV. One of the things we look forward to is bedtime story time with our new child.

In summertime...We’re both excited to go camping and river swimming and biking, and most importantly --sharing that excitement with our child as he or she grows up.

Holidays...Tex loves holidays and really gets into the spirit, decorating the house accordingly. She can't wait to share that enthusiasm with her child-- setting out gifts from Santa on Christmas Eve, exploring the local pumpkin patch in fall, and going out trick-or-treating with friends and their kids.

The more fun traditions the better!

    FAMILY, FRIENDS (& OUR DOG)

Chris and Tex’s family and friends are very excited about our adoption plans and can’t wait to shower the new baby with lots of love (and presents!)

    Chris’s Clan

Chris’s parents and brother and sister all live in California. His sister Samantha has two children, Tommy and Kinzie. We visit with them often, and both kids are excited to have a new cousin. Chris’s parents live nearby as well, and can’t wait for their new grandchild.

    Tex’s Clan

Tex’s family is big and close knit. Although they live on the east coast, there are many family visits throughout the year, including the annual summer get together in Cape Cod. Tex’s brother Jonah has two young boys, Henry and Linus, and her cousins have a new baby girl named Mackenzie.

Your Child Will Have Plenty of Friends to Play With

We have a lot of friends and family who are beyond excited for our new child. With so many kids in our family and inner circle of friends, the child we bring into our family will have lots of friends around to grow up with.

    Meet Wilbur, Our Rescue Dog

We have a friendly, active dog named Wilbur who we rescued when he was a puppy with the help of an organization that finds homes for animals at the pound.

He’s a cattle dog mix, and one of his favorite things to do is play fetch with kids. He also loves catching frisbees at the beach, so we can't wait to do that while we stroll along the shore with our new baby in tow.

    OUR CONNECTIONS TO ADOPTION

    OUR CONNECTIONS TO ADOPTION

Chris’ best friend is adopted. They grew up together as children and have remained close ever since, so  Chris has firsthand experience providing love and support to an adopted person through the various stages of growing up.

We have close friends who were recently married. They are also planning to adopt a baby, so we look forward to raising our children together.

OUR PROMISE TO YOU (& THANK YOU!)

LIFE HAS A WAY OF WORKING OUT

We’re ready and excited to bring a child into our loving home. We tried to conceive naturally  and after undergoing fertility treatments and not having success, we both came to the same conclusion; that a family is based on love. Both of us believe and embrace the fact that life has a way of working out, and open adoption is how we will build our family.

We value the transparency and honesty inherent in open adoption, we have so much love to give a child, and we can’t wait to do just that, while ensuring that you, our child's birth mother, is as involved as you are comfortable being in your baby's life.

    THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING US

Now that you’ve found out a little about us, if you think we may be the right parents for your baby, we encourage you to reach out to us.

If you end up choosing us as your baby’s parents, we will do whatever we can to ensure that the transition goes as smoothly as possible, and we’ll raise your baby with unconditional love and support for the rest of his or her life. That’s our promise to you.
